What's the difference between a trussed and internally supported tank roof?

Both work on lined and unlined tanks. Trussed is the more modern method — three trusses span the roof with no posts in the tank, which is the cleaner choice over a liner. It is worth knowing that in a Colorbond tank the trusses form part of the structure, but a concrete tank already has the wall strength to carry a roof without cross-bracing, so the internally supported method (one to four posts and beams) is still perfectly appropriate and is the budget-friendly option.

Internally supported roof

The economical choice — and no less solid. One to four posts carry horizontal beams that support the sheets. Works on lined or unlined tanks. Worth knowing: in a Colorbond tank the trusses are part of the structure, but a concrete tank already has the wall strength to carry a roof without cross-bracing — so this method is still perfectly appropriate, and it's easier on the wallet.
