Two ways to roof your tank

Both are corrugated metal, both installed in a day, both include a manhole and water level gauge. The difference is what holds the roof up.

Trussed roof

Self-supporting — nothing stands in the tank. Three trusses carry the roofing sheets across the span, so there are no posts on the tank floor. It works on lined and unlined tanks, and it's the cleaner choice over a liner where you don't want posts on the membrane. The more modern method.

Internally supported roof

The economical choice — and no less solid. One to four posts carry horizontal beams that support the sheets. Works on lined or unlined tanks. Worth knowing: in a Colorbond tank the trusses are part of the structure, but a concrete tank already has the wall strength to carry a roof without cross-bracing — so this method is still perfectly appropriate, and it's easier on the wallet.

Not sure which your tank needs? Tell Marcus whether it's lined (or going to be) and he'll point you to the right one — no upsell.

Every roof is corrugated metal, made to measure for your tank and installed in a day, with a manhole for access and a water level gauge fitted as standard. Allow around 4 weeks from measure-up to installation. Whether you choose trussed or internally supported, the result is the same: a tank sealed properly against the weather again.

What does a new tank roof cost?

Quoted to your tank

Every tank is different — size, the roof type you choose, and access all matter — so every roof is quoted individually after a consult. A few photos and your tank diameter are usually enough for a firm price.

Tank roof questions

Trussed or internally supported — which do I need?

If your tank has a liner (or you're planning one), go trussed — three internal trusses hold the roof with no posts standing in the tank. If you want the more economical option and don't mind posts, internally supported uses 1–4 posts and works on lined or unlined tanks.

How long does it take?

The roof is made to measure — allow around 4 weeks — then installed in a single day on site.

Do I get a manhole and level gauge?

Yes — both are included as standard. The manhole gives you safe future access; the water level gauge lets you read the tank at a glance.

What size tanks do you roof?

Concrete tanks from around 32,000 to 100,000 litres.

Is it covered by warranty?

Yes — a 5-year workmanship warranty.
